THE IMAGE UNFOLDS AGAIN

CENTRE FOR PROJECTION ART, COLLINGWOOD YARDS, 2021

The Image Unfolds Again is a site-specific continuation of Alex Walker’s recent solo exhibition, The Image Unfolds at Seventh Gallery, which explored the ability of architecture and projected image to work in symbiosis, forming a reflexive relationship.

From three-dimensional space, a two-dimensional image is captured, only to become three dimensional again as projected light, wrapping and warping with the architecture upon which it is presented. Images morph to momentarily align with architectural elements and at times interlace with their bisected counterparts in a poetic repetition of loss and longing.

This iteration combines warped architectural images created during the Centre for ProjectionArt residency by projecting onto corners and surfaces where multiple planes meet. These images are projected again and abstracted further as they move and shift in three dimensions to engage directly with the angles and planes of Collingwood Yards architecture.
